Broken Vows - Diary ya ga Obonolo Chapter 45

Traditional Ceremony - Vows

Pastor CF Waltz was officiating the ceremony. He stepped forward and looked at the side where my family was seated and then my brother and asked

Pastor: "Who gives this woman away?"

Omphi kissed my forehead, abe a lebelela Pastor, and he nodded, then a kgadima fo morago. Mama and Makgolo ba be ba emella.

He then said

Omphi: “Our Mom, our Grandmother our siblings and I."

He came closer, gave me a warm hug and gently took my hand, wa a neela Kevin, then he hugged him and went to sit down.

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in the sight of God to celebrate one of life's greatest moments, and to cherish the words which shall unite Kevin and Obonolo in marriage. The pastor continued,

To join this man, and this woman in holy matrimony. Not to be entered into lightly, holy matrimony should be entered into solemnly and with reverence and honor. Into this holy agreement these two persons come together to be joined.

If any person here can show cause why these two people should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Kevin and I, almost at the same time, looked at the approximately 70 people sitting by our side. I guess we wanted to see if ka nnete, o teng motho amongst those we invited, who has a hidden agenda against either one of us. I knew I was clean, not expecting any surprises.

On the other hand,I wondered if Kevin felt the same way, le gore ga gona dilo tse ke sa di itseng ka Ena, that could just emerge, right there infront of our family and friends. His side dishes?, Bitter exes? etc

I was busy scanning across all the guests who were seated in front of us, when I spotted my friend Kedibone Lebogo.

I thought, yooo..I haven't seen her in a while, nor spoken to her. I did send her an invitation, so it means she got the invitation, but she did not rsvp.

For some time back, I felt we were really loosing touch. We were too distant. For a while ke ne ke leka go mo letsetsa gore re kopane re bue, but all the time she will give me excuses. I even felt gore o ne a ikgatholosa nna. We never fought or anything, but the distance was too much to ignore. I actually didn't even think she would come to my wedding.I only received her bridal shower gift that she sent with Batso.

Just as I was deep in thoughts about our friendship and how we lost touch, I actually thought I was dreaming or seeing ghosts.

Closer to Kedibone's seat, I spotted someone I thought looked familiar. A guy..

Someone please pinch me. This can't be. What on earth is he doing here? I never invited him, nor spoken or seen him in close to 2years. How did he even know that I was getting married?

Is my mind playing games or what? Ntate Modimo, please don't let anyone ruin my day for me. Let it continue the way it was planned to, according to your guidance and leadership. Lord, you brought Kevin and I this far to give our lives to one another, that much I know, it is meant to be.Let nothing or noone mess this for us. I ask in Jesus name, Amen. I said a quick and short pray. I felt an inner peace.

A bible verse came to mind, Jeremiah 29:11-13, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Thank you Lord, I said in my heart, nothing is impossible with my Lord. God is no liar, I believe and trust in him. Nothing will happen. I must have moved my eyes away from where Kedi' was seating, because, I was now spotting a lot of my other friends.

I decided, let me look again to where Kedi is seated, maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Holy sh*t, that is indeed him.

Wait a minute, Is he holding Kedi's hand?

Yes he was. Definitely so, right there before my eyes, my best friend, mogotse waka wa tlhogo ya Tlou, intimately sitting, hand in hand with my ex .

Yes Richmond Phalane Dikgale ka sebele....
